In the early days of the 2020 pandemic, Robb Benson (vocals/guitar) recorded some ideas in his home studio and sent them to Cassady Laton (drums). Cassady put drums to tape and sent to Gwon Chang (bass), who then added his parts and sent back to Robb. Robb would do rough mixes and after a few months and 7 songs, Planets in the Ocean was born.

In spring of 2022, Robb, Cass and Gwon finally got in a room together as Planets in the Ocean. Several songs sprouted from the band’s practices.

Fast forward a few weeks, when Planets were asked by studio engineer, Chris Hill, to record with him at Robert Lang Studios in Shoreline, WA. The session was to be a single song, Splinter, but it went so well that they doubled down and recorded a second song, Decisions. After recording, Kevin Younkins handled the mixing and mastering of both songs.

These are Planets in the Ocean’s first official studio recordings. Please enjoy both Splinter b/w Decisions.
